I earned my BA at UC San Diego, where I graduated Cum Laude with a major in Human Development and a focus in the area of psychology. I also graduated Summa Cum Laude with my Master of Arts in Theology from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology (DSPT) in Berkeley, CA. I am now working toward my Masters of Social Work at Brown School of Social Work at WUSTL.
Experience
While I enjoy tutoring a variety of subjects, I particularly enjoy working with students who are preparing for the verbal and writing segments of the SAT, ACT, and GRE. I have found that these standardized tests come during a very transitional moment in the lives of teens and young adults, and I am passionate about helping my students to build confidence and gain the necessary skills to meet their score goals. I believe that every student has unique ways of learning, and I take pride in finding the right learning strategies to help each student to maximize their learning potential. During my undergraduate years, I had the privilege of tutoring at-risk students in K-5 who were below the 50th percentile in reading through the America Reads program. Later, during my graduate level studies, I tutored reading, writing, and verbal skills at Huntington Learning Center. There, I not only worked with younger students out on the floor, but also tutored SAT and ACT prep for the Reading and Writing portions of both exams. During this time, I was able to help many students reach increase their test scores and reach their goals. Finally, in my years as Director of Admissions at a graduate school, I not only read numerous personal statements for graduate admission applications but also helped many of those same students to polish their statements prior to final submission.
