Experience
I attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where I received my B.A. in Sociology. While in undergrad there, I worked as an assistant teacher and peer tutor; both are experiences that fueled my passion for teaching. I worked with Teach for America after graduating, and I worked with Memphis middle school students in Mathematics. I have certification to teach all courses at the middle school level. In my work as a teacher, I've developed curricula, lesson plans, and tutored after-school. I've worked with students on Writing, Reading, Literature, Math (many subjects therein), Social Studies, English, and test prep (LSAT, SAT, ACT, A.P. tests, etc.). After taking the LSAT and excelling, I began to tutor teachers hoping to improve their scores. I wound up deciding against law school, and instead pursued my master's in Public Administration. I currently work for Teach for America as an Alumni Leadership Specialist. I also coach new Mathematics teachers as part of training in the summer. My experience is wide-ranging, and I love working as an educator to encourage students to expand their learning and leadership skills. I especially enjoy teaching Math and test preparation. Outside of teaching, I'm passionate about educational equity. I also enjoy music and spending time with my dogs.
