Education
I attended the University of Maryland where I got my BA in English Language and Literature in 2012. I love to read and write and enjoy helping others find a passion for reading and writing, too. After working in a first grade classroom for one year, I was promoted to teaching Creative Writing for 7/8 grade. I decided to attend Notre Dame of Maryland University at this time, too, in order to obtain my teaching certificate in Secondary English Education. I completed this program in January of 2015. I decided to switch career paths, though, and am currently a student at Covenant Theological Seminary where I am earning my MA in Counseling. Even though I decided not to teach full time, I still am passionate about helping others to succeed in their education.
Experience
-One year as Instructional Assistant for 1st, 5th, and 6th grade -Two years as Creative Writing Teacher for 7/8 grade; also same two years as Instructional Assistant for 7/8 grade; a lot of work spent pulling students to work more on concepts covered in the Language Arts classroom (students pulled were struggling students, on-level students, and above-average students); additionally, came into Language Arts classroom to teach grammar lessons and reading strategies -Three years as After School Care worker with ages 5-14; tutored those children in all subject areas -One year as a writing tutor at the University of Maryland's Writing Center

Hobbies
I have worked at a summer camp, Camp Wabanna, in Maryland for the past six summers. My roles at this camp have allowed me to work with children ranging in ages from 4-18. The past two years I have been in charge of our overnight program. I so enjoy getting the chance to work with kids who come from all backgrounds and have a variety of learning styles. My time at Wabanna has grown me in patience and given me tools that help me reach many different kinds of learners.
