Experience
I was a 9th grade math and reading tutor at an inner city school in New Orleans the year after I graduated college. It was through an Americorps program called City Year. The next year, I taught science and outdoor education to all grade levels at an elementary school in rural Massachusetts. A few years ago, I helped my boss's son pass his high school math class. I am often asked by friends and family members to edit their letters, websites, papers, etc. I love learning and working with students, and I try to make it fun for everyone involved! I am currently in massage therapy school, and I have worked in a number of different environments from IT to teaching to outdoor labor, and I think that real world examples or stories can help teach concepts and applying subject material to the real world and work environments makes learning seem much more applicable to real life.
