Experience

I enjoy problem solving and honing my skills in perception, which are very important to tutoring well. In my opinion, a good tutor has to be perceptive enough to be able to figure out a specific problem that a student is having in a subject. When I am working with a student, I look for a way to take a topic and break it down into smaller pieces, so my student not only knows how we got to an answer, but knows the pieces that came together to get us to that answer. I also try and simplify the language that is used in subjects like science so it becomes more understandable. My reward as a tutor is seeing someone I've worked with grasp the subject and truly understand it. It is a wonderful feeling to see someone who is struggling with a topic not only understand the subject, but grasp its concepts to the point where it's no longer a difficult topic for them. I tutored fellow students at the University of Missouri, where I helped others in chemistry, nutrition, and biological sciences. I am also able to help students with statistics, pre-calculus, essay editing, writing, and English. In my free time, I enjoy anything related to cars, music, and photography.
