Experience
I earned my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education at Harding University. Following graduation, I began to teach Kindergarten, where I remained for two years. In college, I worked tutoring Phonics, spent time helping elementary school students with Math, and also found myself assisting my peers with essay writing. In my student teaching experience, I worked with students from Kindergarten through fourth grade as they worked on their English, Math, Reading, and Phonics. I went into the field of teaching because I love explaining difficult concepts to students and seeing that sudden moment where everything clicks and they understand something that they had previously been struggling with. I do my best to instill confidence in the abilities each student has and then help them grow as they move through the material. I do my best to make each lesson fun for the student and also understand that each person learns differently and I need to tailor my lessons to the individual. In addition to the subjects I have mentioned, I am comfortable helping students as they prepare for standardized tests like the ACT and ISEE. In my free time, I enjoy fencing, sewing, reading, learning about art and history, and playing the bagpipes.
