Education

Washington University in St Louis - Bachelor in Arts, Classics, African Studies, Writing

Experience

As a senior at Washington University, I am studying Latin, and plan to graduate with a bachelor's degree in African studies and classics. I have studied Latin for eight years, and grammar is the first thing that interested me in this language. For me, when it comes to language, each sentence unfolds like a logic problem. I have a passion for language and linguistics that has led me to the study of Africa and the language of Kiswahili. Kiswahili (also known as Swahili) is an African language spoken by people of Central and East Africa. I enjoy writing, as it is a creative practice that allows me to be a bit of a perfectionist with vocabulary and grammar; as such, I am qualified to be a writing coach. I am also a skilled proofreader since grammar and mechanics are second nature to me. I also enjoy teaching prosody and stylistics, which are elements found in literature, poetry, and creative writing. In addition to writing, I tutor the subjects of test prep, specifically the SAT critical reading and SAT writing. Other subjects I tutor are Latin, English, and SAT math. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, movies, reading, and hiking.
