When tutoring a student, I focus on what is important to learning. Concepts such as self-confidence and empowerment are critical, while I also work with people to uncover, appreciate, and build on their strengths. They should also be empowered to ask questions and not be afraid to be curious. I think a desire to improve knowledge and ability is something to be proud of and not a reason to feel embarrassed. I strive to help students with all these things and help and watch them become enthusiastic learners.I'm a naturally curious person, love tutoring, and value a sense of humor. Working in the nonprofit sector, I like to find ways to become involved in the neighborhood and community and am passionate about public affairs and social justice. I recently graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Women's and Gender Studies. Here I minored in linguistics, Spanish, sociology, and multicultural studies. Now living in St. Louis, I have been in a public affairs fellowship program for a year and have picked up public service, collaboration, political, and leadership skills.When not working or tutoring, I like to go to concerts, listen to podcasts, swim, and watch movies.
