Experience
I graduated from DePaul University in Chicago. I took a double major in Women's and Gender Studies and American Studies. After graduation, I spent two years teaching kindergarten students in a St. Louis school. I taught them in Science, English, Social Studies, Math, and Language Arts. I tutored students in grades three through six in English, Math, and Language Arts. While teaching, I studied at University of Missouri for my certification in Elementary Education. My experience with various age groups gives me the knowledge I need in order to tutor different subjects at various grade levels. However, if I were to be asked to select a favorite subject to tutor, I would pick writing. This is because I like to help my students develop their ideas and thoughts into something tangible that they can share with others. My philosophy for teaching is that no two students are the same. Therefore, no two students will learn in the same manner. I strive to fully comprehend the strength, struggles, and interests of my students. This allows me to compose lesson plans that will allow my students to gain confidence and achieve success. In my free time, I enjoy going to the movies, crafting, yoga, and reading.
