Experience

I received my bachelor's degree in history, social sciences, and education from Wheaton College. I was a 6th grade teacher and tutor for two years before transitioning to teach high school history, including Ancient History, 20th Century History, and Western Civilization. I have experience teaching students of all ages and I enjoy helping each student find new ways to achieve academic success. While my specialty is in the field of social sciences, I tutor a variety of courses, including reading, writing, grammar and mechanics, essay writing and editing, American history, European history, world history, government, geography, philosophy, public speaking, religious studies, and social studies. I am also available to tutor students who are preparing for exams such as the PSAT, ACT, or ISEE.I've been a certified teacher for the past six years and in that time I've seen many changes. Larger class sizes in my area--and across the country--have made individualized instruction something of a rarity. I believe this is why tutoring has become such an integral part of the educational landscape. Tutoring facilitates individuality in a way the modern classroom simply cannot. It is a viable way to create a more authentic learning experience.  When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy indoor soccer, reading old books, and baseball.
